We encourage PAL SCBWI CenCal Members (or other region members who have actively participated in recent CenCal events) to participate in our PAL showcase at Saturday’s 9/21/24 in-person Writers & Illustrators Day conference at the Camarillo Community Center.
Eligibility: SCBWI premium (paid) PAL members registered for Saturday’s 9/21/24 in-person Writers & Illustrators Day conference are eligible to participate. (Other region members who have actively participated in recent CenCal events may be also be eligible to participate; please check with Alexis O’Neill.) * SCBWI Membership must be current and active at time of registration; if you are not sure of your status, contact SCBWI Headquarters for assistance.
1. Email Regional Advisor Emeritus Alexis O’Neill (Alexisinca@aol.com) no later than Sunday September 1st to confirm your participation (so that we reserve room for your materials).
2. Prepare your Display: as a PAL member, you may bring one of your published books (or a book cover), new book flyers, plus a printout of your Bio and a list of your published works. (If you don’t have marking materials like a BIO, an alternative option would be to print out a paper copy of your SCBWI profile. PLEASE LABEL CLEARLY what is for display ONLY and what is available for conference attendees to take like flyers, etc. CENCAL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR MATERIALS.
3. We suggest you also bring business cards or postcards to have available for attendees to take. This will help you create connections with peers and speakers who are interested in your work.
4. Bring your Book (or Book Cover) and promotional materials (See Step 3) to share at the 9/21/24 in-person event.

To give you a bit of a promotional boost, we will be running a PowerPoint slide show of SCBWI CenCal PAL (Published and Listed) members during our Writers’ Day event in September.
