At this year's Europolitan, you will have the opportunity to win one of two free 1-year SCBWI memberships! And the jury who decides the winner is: everyone at the conference! Attendees and faculty alike will get two votes each for the Sliding Door Pitch and the Draw it! competition. The entries with the most votes will win - winners announced during the Closing Remarks session on Sunday.
Most likely, you heard of an “elevator pitch” before - but we'll go a step further and challenge you even further. Forget the elevator ride and imagine you have only the time it takes to go around in a sliding door to pitch your book. That 10 words to describe your book, your character, your plot. TEN! Are you up to the task? Share your pitch and collect votes - the pitch with the most votes wins!
There's plenty of precedent to prompt-sketching and themes doodling - but while the concept isn't new, you can't always win a 1year free SCBWI membership! The rules are straightforward: a theme, a 10cmx10cm piece of paper, and a single penci. Can you draw something that gathers the most votes? Well, it's certainly worth a shot.
The Europolitan Conference will provide a pinboard for both competition. Theme for the Draw-it! challenge will be announced during the Welcome session on Saturday morning. You don't need to bring your own paper or pencils - we will provide materials for you.
Should two or more entries receive the same number of winning vote, the ultimate winner will be randomised among the entries tied for the win.
