Join fellow writers to find and discuss great mentor texts! Come prepared to search the library for great picture books to share with others. FREE and IN-PERSON! Members and non-members welcome!
WHAT
What is a mentor text? A mentor text is any book that inspires our own work as writers and illustrators. In this fun afternoon, we’ll have a chance to discover new mentor texts on the shelves of the Berkeley Public Library. After our mentor text “treasure hunt,” we’ll take turns reading and discussing our finds with each other. The facilitators will help guide the discussion, offering new ways to think about how picture books work, but the real treasure of the day will come as we share and enjoy a wide range of books, gaining inspiration from each other.
