Meet Vicky

Vicky Weber is a former elementary school teacher turned bestselling children’s book author and literary agent at Creative Media Agency. She represents commercial fiction – board books through adult – but specializes in children’s literature. In all manuscripts, she wants intensity in the writing—to be dropped into the moment and experience the story alongside the characters. If a book is high-concept, commercial fiction with beautiful, literary-leaning prose, it’s probably up her alley.

How it will work:

After a brief introduction, the webinar moderator will begin reading submitted first pages. Vicky will share her feedback on each individually. The moderator will read as many first page submissions as possible in the 90-minute session.

How to Submit your First Page:

If you would like the opportunity to have your first page read aloud during the webinar please send the first page of your kidlit project (PB, CB, MG, or YA) in standard formatting (12-point font, Times New Roman, 1 inch margins, double spaced) as a doc (no pdf) to nebraska@scbwi.org by Friday, May 23. Include the title, genre, and age category at the top of the page. Place: First Page Submission in the email subject line. Any submission that does not follow the formatting guidelines will not be considered.

Optional add-on critique:

Want more feedback than the first page? A limited number of 10-page critiques are available for an additional cost: $60 for members, $65 for non-members.

Submit the first 10 pages or full PB (no more than 1500 words) in standard manuscript format as a doc (no pdf) by May 5 to nebraska@scbwi.org. The subject line of the email and doc title should read: LastName_Title_AgentLastName (ie. AmazingAuthor_TheGreatAmericanNovel_Weber). Critiques will be returned in early June.

All registered participants will have a submission opportunity with Vicky following the event.
