Tokyo’s Meiji Jingu forest

This is the first part of a two-part event inspired by Holly Thompson and Toshiki Nakamura's upcoming picture book, 'Listening to Trees: George Nakashima, Woodworker'.

In this first part you are invited to join us for a walk through Tokyo’s Meiji Jingu forest, an oasis of nature in one of the busiest shopping areas in Tokyo. We’ll wander through the park, shut out the noise, block out the glare of neon shop signs and spend some time listening to the trees, and recording our conversations through sketches and scribbles.

Meeting place: The Torii gate - Harajuku station/ Meiji Jingu Mae Station entrance - see map

Time: 2:00 pm

(After the sketch and scribble, those who wish to join the second part of the event - author/illustrator talk - will make their way to the Tokyo Women's Plaza)

To join this event click on the registration button. Further details will be given once you’ve registered.

The second part of this event will take place at Tokyo Women’s Plaza, 18:00 ~19:30. Holly and Toshiki will tell us what inspired them to write and illustrate the extraordinary story of George Nakashima.
