During COVID she worked at Kenilworth Books as a bookseller where she learned about the art of selling books and the power of strong imagery on social media. She has been at Nosy Crow for three years, shaping their online presence through social media. Lara enjoys the creative ways in which someone can capture their audience’s attention through social media, and she has begun teaching authors how they can do the same. We recognise all diverse experiences, including (but not limited to) LGBTQIA+, BAME, gender diversity, people with disabilities, and ethnic, cultural, and religious minorities. We subscribe to a broad definition of disability, which includes but is not limited to physical, sensory, cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities, chronic conditions, and mental illnesses (this may also include addiction). Furthermore, we subscribe to a social model of disability, which presents disability as created by barriers in the social environment, due to lack of equal access, stereotyping, and other forms of marginalisation. We are offering ten full scholarship places, awarded to authors and illustrators in need and from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. Please email britishisles-ra2@scbwi.org by 10 March to apply for your place.
