What is it?
This is a FREE session where you can submit one anonymous MOCK QUERY for the opportunity to receive on-the-spot feedback from one faculty member in a small group setting. Due to time constraints, we regret that we may not get to all submissions. However, all participants can sit in and learn from the professional feedback in these sessions. This will also be a time to gain valuable insights into an agent/editor/art director's query/illustrator online presence review process. If you choose to participate in this option, please follow the submission instructions below.
Mock Pile (for illustrators)

- Send your illustrator mock query to Berrie, epa-ic@scbwi.org, by midnight Friday, 4/11/25.
- Please put “Mock Pile submission_Pocono 2025” in the subject line of your email.
What to send:
Please send ONE DOCUMENT with the following illustrator digital presence links
- Website/online portfolio
- Up to 2 social media platform handles where you post your illustration work
What to name your files:
⇒Please SAVE YOUR FILE as a Word doc or PDF as follows: art director last name_Pocono 2025_Illustrator Mock Pile
⇒For example, for art director Carol Ly's pile, you would save the document as: Ly_Pocono 2025_Illustrator Mock Pile
Mock Pile (for authors and translators)

- Send your mock query to Kristen, epa-ara@scbwi.org, by midnight Friday, 4/11/25.
- Please put “Pocono 2025: Mock Pile submission” in the subject line of your email.
What to send:
For ALL MANUSCRIPT types, please send ONE DOCUMENT with the following:
- Query Letter (250-word max)
- Synopsis–separate from the query letter (250-word max)
- First Page of your work (250-word max OR, if submitting a dummy, 2 1/2 spreads max )
How to format your submission:
⇒For all submissions, format your work in 12-point font, with one-inch margins, and double spacing (US Letter paper size).
⇒Include synopsis in the same document (please don’t send two documents).
⇒Please include title, category and genre on every page of your work as a header or a footer. NO NAMES or other identifying information please.
⇒Please SAVE YOUR FILE as a Word doc or PDF as follows: Faculty Last Name_Pocono 2025_Mock Pile_CATEGORY_GENRE.
⇒For example, if sending a middle grade sci-fi mock query for editor Sara Sargent's pile, you would save the document as follows: Sargent_Pocono 2025_Mock Pile_MG_Sci-Fi
