Writing is a solitary endeavor. What better way to start the new year than sharing your words with a supportive small group who will give you feedback on your efforts? Bring 5 pages of your work-in-progress to our Zoom Critique Day and meet friends and fellow creatives as we read and react to each other’s manuscripts. You might find new critique partners!
This FREE Zoom event will take place Saturday, January 11 from 10 AM to about noon. We’ll break into groups depending on what manuscript you bring to share: picture books and chapter books; middle grade; and young adult. Illustrators may bring either a dummy or five individual illustrations.
Please be prompt as we cannot guarantee that late-comers will be able to join an already-in-progress critique group either in their category, or possibly, at all.
Instructions:
1. Register for this FREE event so we can send you the Zoom link.
2. Arrive on Zoom with your 5 pages of text to share.
3. Place the category you're writing in after your name on Zoom. For example: Mary Miggles/YA or John Jumpup/PB. This will help us quickly put you into groups.
4. Once in your breakout room, choose a timekeeper. Everyone gets 15 minutes. The writer decides how much time to read versus how much time for feedback.
PLEASE NOTE: Unlike in the past, we won't be sharing the text on the screen.
5. If you'd like to share emails for further critique work, please use the chat to do so.
Illustrators: After you have registered, we'll contact you with instructions on how to participate.
This unique FREE event is brought to you by the SCBWI-L.A. chapter. You must be logged in to register. Registration will open December 16th at 8am and will close on January 8 at 8pm.
