Susan Johnston Taylor

Susan Johnston Taylor is an SCBWI PAL member and author of the Crystal Kite Award-winning picture book poetry collection Animals in Surprising Shades: Poems About Earth’s Colorful Creatures. School Library Journal called it "a STEAM-themed poetry collection that should have broad appeal for young readers." She's written over a dozen books for the educational market, and her writing also appears in Highlights for Children, Scout Life, and several poetry anthologies for kids and adults. Her next picture book poetry collection, If Pets Wrote Poems, releases in 2026.

Andrea Gabriel

Andrea Gabriel is an author & illustrator whose work, both for children and adults, is grounded in her love for the natural world. She has illustrated more than ten books for the children's trade market and written several more. Her books have been published by Charlesbridge, Albert Whitman and Co., Dawn Publications, Sasquatch Books, and Arbordale. She has published for the adult market under the name A.G. Bennett. She lives in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, with her family of two and four-footed creatures. She works as a writing coach with The Narrative Project and with select private clients.

Sarah Rockett

Sarah Rockett is senior editor with Sleeping Bear Press and editorial director for Tilbury House Publishing, both imprints of Cherry Lake Publishing Group. A journalism major from Boston University’s College of Communications, she has been working in the children’s publishing industry for 15 years and truly believes that picture books have the power to change the world. She loves traveling, spending time outdoors, and making her way through her “to-be-read” pile. Sarah lives in Michigan with her husband, 5-year-old son, and a lazy cocker spaniel.
