Welcome! My name is Ekaterina (‘Katya’) Tabakh. I was born in Moscow, Russia and grew up in an artistic family. I moved to the US sometime ago and now live in the lovely city of San Francisco. I have been employed as an animator in the US and Russia, and, throughout the years, I have worked under many different art directors with very different artistic visions. Later, I became fascinated with the art of children’s book illustration. Pivoting from animation to book illustration has allowed me the freedom to express my creative voice. I specialize in children’s book illustration for all ages, from little kids to young adult readers. In addition to illustrating, I also write my own picture books. I am the First-Place Winner of the SCBWI 2017 Tomie dePaola Illustration Award.
