Washington, D.C., October 30, 2024 – In an enchanting fusion of literature and Halloween magic, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) took center stage at this year’s White House “HalloREAD” event. Thousands of children and their families, many from the military and local public schools, attended this inspiring event where celebrated authors breathed life into beloved stories, captivating audiences young and old.
Selected by SCBWI, the lineup of literary luminaries included Ana Aranda, Tracey Baptiste, Hanh Bui, Kate Messner, Pete Oswald, Jane O’Connor, Robin Preiss Glasser, and Dan Santat—authors and author-illustrators whose books inspire creativity and spark joy across generations.
