Join fellow Premium members online for this bimonthly writers' critique group.
Join us for our next virtual peer critique session! Hosted on Zoom by ARA Elena Dee, this hour-long Zoom meeting offers Premium members an opportunity to give and receive feedback on their work while making connections with fellow SCBWI members. Three or four manuscripts will be randomly selected for attention bi-monthly. Please note: as a Premium member, you are welcome whether you already have a critique group or are seeking to create one. For writers who have revised a manuscript several times with an existing critique group, the Write Idea may offer new and valuable input from others with a fresh eye. If you would like to offer your manuscript for feedback, please register first. Then indicate the genre and paste the first 500 words into an email addressed to canadaeast-ara@scbwi.org with the subject line THE WRITE IDEA. Please also indicate if you would like to read your work aloud during the session, or if you would prefer to remain anonymous and have Elena present it.
Three manuscripts (any genre) will be selected for attention. Each peer critique will be allotted 20 minutes, broken down into three sections: 1-optional elevator pitch (1-2 minutes) 2-reading the piece aloud (2-7 minutes) 3-feedback via verbal comments and a short critique poll (7-10 minutes). General feedback will be solicited and should be framed in a kind and constructive manner. All Premium members are welcome, whether you are looking for feedback or not.
